Gamer Network

Gamer Network is one of the world’s leading games media businesses and is the publisher behind brands such as Eurogamer, RockPaperShotgun, OutsideXbox and more.

In 2012 I began a series of articles for Gamer Network about how games evolve during development. I worked with developers to uncover exclusive design documents, spending months investigating and gathering research for long-form articles.

For example, did you know Deus Ex was originally set in a Russian-occupied Texas? Or a cancelled Thief sequel would have rebooted the series in a modern setting? Did you know Doom was initially a four-player co-op game?

As a journalist I’ve lectured and written at length about the need for the publishers and developers to preserve the history of the medium, before it is lost for good.
